WOW - it's been ages since I sat down to blog - and a lot has happened...Emma was baptised, Mikey had his first ER visit, I've had surgery, Mikey's started to pee-pee on the potty & has a girlfriend, my baby girl is 5 months now......
So let's start from the beginning. We had Emma baptised in New Orleans on Easter Sunday. It was so nice to be back home and share such an important day with my family whom I only see once or twice a year. She was baptised in the same dress I wore, in the same church that I was baptised in - Special, huh! Her godmother is my sister, Christine & her godfather is my only boy cousin on my dad's side, Garrett. Plenty pictures were taken - will post at a later date.
On to the ER visit - when we got to New Orleans for the baptism/easter trip, Mikey wasn't feeling himself. He was running a low grade fever and had a runny nose. Not wanting it to be a BIG illness, I quickly gave him benadryl & tylenol and watched him. Thinking he was ok, we decided to make a trip to the zoo - BIG mistake! He progressively got worse & by the end of the day was a pitiful looking little guy - with a faucet for a nose, a cough & goop coming from his eye. We called our pediatrician who told us to take him to the ER since we were out of town...1st visit we were diagnosed with strep & prescribed the WORST TASTING MEDS EVER! After throwing up the antibiotics & then refusing to swallow anything else we made a 2nd trip to the ER. This trip got us a throat culture, which was negative for strep, a penacillion shot (which was HORRIBLE) & another antibiotic. All the day before easter!!!!!!! I don't know who cried more - me or mikey. My poor little man!
Next came surgery - long story short - my OB found a lump on my thyroid at my 6 week postpardom visit, ordered ultrasounds, which resulted in a biopsy. The biospy couldn't rule out cancer, so I ended up having the whole beotch removed. All path reports from the surgery came back benign -- Thanks You Jesus! Now I take a pill everyday (which i was already doing) for the rest of my life -- oh well, life goes on!
The potty -- WE'RE WORKING ON IT! He will pee-pee some days like a champ and others could care less about even trying to sit on the potty. I still think it's too soon, but what the hell, might as well try. As for the girlfriend - her name is Delialah, and he is smitten. I must admit, she is pretty cute. :) He looks forward to school days so they can play together and when they see each other they screach each others names in delight. It really is a sight! His first little crush!
And my girl, Emma --- she's growing so darn fast! 5 months old already. Where has the time gone. She has to know what is going on at all times, and loves to watch her brother. He can make her crack up laughing and I love that! She is the DIVA though - very strong willed! When she's mad, you know it and so does the rest of the world! I can already tell she will be hell on wheels - so different than her brother was at this age.
Hope that has caught us up. I hope to start blogging again on a regular basis -- I have missed it so!
