WHY?!?!?

We are officially there! Where? The "WHY" stage! I thought we'd have a few more months - but nope, it started today.
J: Mikey, don't touch that!
M: WHY?
J: Well, because you aren't supposed to push the buttons on the DVR.
M: oh, don't touch buttons? WHY?
J: Cause, only mommy's & daddy's are allowed to.
M: ohhhhh, only mommy & daddy? WHY?
J: because that's what the rabbit told mommy.
M: ohhhhh, oh-tay
Who knew that would have worked - I think I'll try it again tomorrow, but sooner. I may have to change up the animals or else he'll catch on to me! lol

And on another note - the Diva has also entered another phase of life -- one that includes teeth. Yes, the little lady's 2 bottom teeth cut thru today -- on day different than her brother's did. Isn't that bizarre? Mikey was 6 months, 3 days when his 2 bottoms broke thru & today Emma was 6 months, 2 days. We'll see if she follows in his footsteps for everything else. I know she will for crawling because she's trying real hard to get on those knees these days and can inch herself on her belly to get what she wants. Amazing how fast they grow!

It IS That Easy!

Everyone says that AVON sells itself and that it's so easy - but you never really believe it, ya know. BUT it IS that easy! And I say that because I already have 1 order and I just signed up yesterday - AWESOME!

I won't lie, I had major trouble sleeping last night thinking about getting out there to SELL. I'm not the "salesman" type, so I've had my reservations, but I woke up today, determined to do it -- and I did it without really doing anything but handing a book to my sister. She brought it to her office and BAM - 1st order in. THANKS CHRISTINE - YOU ROCK!

Let's hope that the orders continue to roll in - from the online store and in person!!

AVON Calling

YEP, that's right folks -- this stay-at-home mom has joined the AVON bandwagon! Partly to see if I can make a little extra "play" cash for the weekends and partly to give me an excuse to rejoin the "adult" world and get out of the house for more than just the grocery.

I'm really excited about the whole challenge of getting out there and selling! So wish me luck and if you need AVON - you know where to find me!

Potty Mouth

I now know that he listens to EVERYTHING I say.....and I now know I need to WATCH EVERYTHING I say!!!!

scenerio: Watching Ice Age and the dvd starts skipping

Mikey - ahh, mommy, movie. ahhhh, MOMMY, MOVIE!
Jenn - It's ok buddy, it will fix itself in a minute.

The movie doesn't correct itself, instead it gets even worse (probably because of some sticky fingers that were holding it prior to us watching it)

Mikey -- DAMN IT, DAMN IT, DAMN IT, TV IS BROKEN, DAMN IT!!!

I held my composer, although deep down I was cracking up, and sternly said, Mikey we don't say that word. Then walked away to laugh out loud about it! Ahhhhhh, kids!

More Invitations

Well since I last posted about the "forgotten degree" I've had a chance to use my skills on two more invitations. I so love doing this! I'm seriously thinking about putting ads out to see if I can generate some business. Until then I am content designing for friends & family.
Enjoy the two new creations!

Time To Catch Up

WOW - it's been ages since I sat down to blog - and a lot has happened...Emma was baptised, Mikey had his first ER visit, I've had surgery, Mikey's started to pee-pee on the potty & has a girlfriend, my baby girl is 5 months now......

So let's start from the beginning. We had Emma baptised in New Orleans on Easter Sunday. It was so nice to be back home and share such an important day with my family whom I only see once or twice a year. She was baptised in the same dress I wore, in the same church that I was baptised in - Special, huh! Her godmother is my sister, Christine & her godfather is my only boy cousin on my dad's side, Garrett. Plenty pictures were taken - will post at a later date.

On to the ER visit - when we got to New Orleans for the baptism/easter trip, Mikey wasn't feeling himself. He was running a low grade fever and had a runny nose. Not wanting it to be a BIG illness, I quickly gave him benadryl & tylenol and watched him. Thinking he was ok, we decided to make a trip to the zoo - BIG mistake! He progressively got worse & by the end of the day was a pitiful looking little guy - with a faucet for a nose, a cough & goop coming from his eye. We called our pediatrician who told us to take him to the ER since we were out of town...1st visit we were diagnosed with strep & prescribed the WORST TASTING MEDS EVER! After throwing up the antibiotics & then refusing to swallow anything else we made a 2nd trip to the ER. This trip got us a throat culture, which was negative for strep, a penacillion shot (which was HORRIBLE) & another antibiotic. All the day before easter!!!!!!! I don't know who cried more - me or mikey. My poor little man!

Next came surgery - long story short - my OB found a lump on my thyroid at my 6 week postpardom visit, ordered ultrasounds, which resulted in a biopsy. The biospy couldn't rule out cancer, so I ended up having the whole beotch removed. All path reports from the surgery came back benign -- Thanks You Jesus! Now I take a pill everyday (which i was already doing) for the rest of my life -- oh well, life goes on!

The potty -- WE'RE WORKING ON IT! He will pee-pee some days like a champ and others could care less about even trying to sit on the potty. I still think it's too soon, but what the hell, might as well try. As for the girlfriend - her name is Delialah, and he is smitten. I must admit, she is pretty cute. :) He looks forward to school days so they can play together and when they see each other they screach each others names in delight. It really is a sight! His first little crush!

And my girl, Emma --- she's growing so darn fast! 5 months old already. Where has the time gone. She has to know what is going on at all times, and loves to watch her brother. He can make her crack up laughing and I love that! She is the DIVA though - very strong willed! When she's mad, you know it and so does the rest of the world! I can already tell she will be hell on wheels - so different than her brother was at this age.

Hope that has caught us up. I hope to start blogging again on a regular basis -- I have missed it so!

We're Still Here

Just wanted to say - We're still here - still truckin' - just a little slower these days. It has taken some getting used to having a new one around, but Mikey & I are adjusting well. He has been the most AWESOME big brother - helping me in anyway he can - and in return I have been taking every free moment I have to thank him and give him special "mommy time" - hence the lack of blogging.

To bring everyone up to speed - Emma is approaching 3 months - I KNOW, time flies! She still, however, eats EVERY 2 HOURS - which is killing me, but I get thru it by telling myself, this too shall pass. She can go a little longer at night, but not much, her max is 4.5 hours - I can't wait until she can sleep thru the night! She is weighing in at a whopping 11lbs 14oz - yep, she's a porker - and a cute one too!

Here are a few recent pictures of my two angels -- I promise to get back to blogging on a regular basis soon!!!!!

Paying It Forward

My friend Mandi is doing this "pay it forward" thing on her blog and I thought it was pretty neat. I know the economy is in the toilet right now and it amazes me how people are still willing to pay it forward at times like this and it made me want to do the same.

So here are the rule....I am copy and pasting this from Mandi's blog!

here are the details + rules:

1. Be one of the first THREE bloggers to leave a comment on this post, which then entitles you to a handmade item from me - something crafty or yummy, who knows?!

2. Winners must post this challenge on their own blog, meaning that you will Pay It Forward, creating a handmade gift -anything!- for the first THREE bloggers who leave a comment on YOUR post about this giveaway!

3. The gift that you send to your 3 Friends can be from any price range and you have 365 days to make/ship your item. This means you should be willing to maintain your blog at least until you receive your gift and have shipped your gifts. And, remember: It's the Spirit and the Thought That Count!

4. When you receive your gift, please feel free to blog about it, sharing appropriate Linky Love! If you are not one of the Top Three Commenters on this post, you can still play along. Go ahead and start your own Pay It Forward chain, and encourage your blogging friends to do the same!SO, REMEMBER... Pay it forward!

Just Like Her Brother

Little Miss Emma is already showing signs that she will be just like her brother. He absolutely LOVED his baths and especially his hair washed - and lets face it, we had to wash it all the time since he was born with so much! Emma is the same way - she LOVES her baths! You can just tell she is super content in that little bath hammock. Last night she even started dozing off as Granny was washing her. Ahhhhhhh - the life of a newborn!

Love At First Sight

So far it's been a fairy tale - love at first sight - the type of reaction you long for your first child to have when your second child enters the world. Mikey has been WONDERFUL!!!!! He loves his little sister so much. Every morning he wakes up and goes straight to her crib in Michael & I's room - his first words are "Hi Emma" - which sounds like Hi M ahhhhh. :) And God forbid she's not in the crib because he immediately chimes in with "Where Emma Go?"

It's so precious! He wants to hold her, have her lay on his sesame street sofa with him, help feed her, help change her diaper, he even coaches her to burp when I'm trying to burp her. He stands right next to us and says over and over "Berrrp, Emma, Berrrp. It just melts my heart and makes me want to cuddle up with him and keep him this little - my little man has adjusted so well.

A Forgotten Degree

It's been 10 years now since I graduated from college - with a degree that I took great pride in. A degree that got me my first job as a graphic designer and introduced me to so many interesting people. A degree that got my name printed on CDs & magazines as: Art Director or Cover Artist or Layout Designer. A degree that got my foot in the door to my most exciting job, working for Al Coplend. And a degree that is no longer being used.

Yep, it's sad to say that since I have had kids, I no longer work in the field that once was my dream. Sure, I use my skill from time to time, for family or friends or for my own benefit, but not for a paycheck. And yes, I have toyed with the idea of starting my own design business from home, but I'm just to chicken and don't really have the time these days to devote to it.

So for now I am satisfied when a family member calls me up to design an invitation or a cover for a reunion scrapbook. And I get excited when I have a birthday party or baptism or birth announcement to do. It brings me back to my creative mode and for a few hours I feel like I'm back in the working world and get a sense of accomlishment. Maybe one day I'll go back to work, or open my own business and if I do - my friends - you'll be the first to know!

Here are my 2 latest pieces that I did for myself ~ ENJOY

Nesting Mode

Since Monday the Davis household has been in serious nesting mode. Chances are pretty high that we will be having this baby Monday Jan. 5th - so we are in a MAD DASH to finish up things that we have been slacking on. Like setting up the bed in our room, washing all the sleepers and onsies, installing the carseat base, sterilizing pacifiers and nipples in case we need them......you know the normal stuff you do when a baby is coming.

My wonderful neighbor has been kind enough to come over twice a day to monitor my blood pressure throughout the nesting phase and it has been up and down. We're monitoring it since blood pressure will be the deciding factor on Monday. If it's up high we go straight in for the section - de ja vu from when Mikey was born. That's exactly how it happened with him!

So say a few prayers and sit tight, I may not be blogging for a while. That is until we get out of the hospital and I can announce what the sex of Baby davis #2 is!!!!

Hope everyone has a Safe and Happy New Year!
